Over the years I have gone out of my way to keep politics off my website. I have been mostly successful. The recent assassination of Charlie Kirk and the people who started dancing on his grave didn’t change my attitude about the website. Instead it made me think of a vow I took oh so many years ago – An’ it harm none. Some of you may know that phrase. It’s from the Witch’s Rede.
Celebrating the death of someone because they held different ideas may not seem to be harmful, but it is. His children will carry these memories for the rest of their life. An’ it harm none.
Witches cast spells. Yes, we do cast curses. I only cast a curse after I’ve removed emotion and considered the situation very carefully. In the end, after nearly 50 years of doing witch work, I can count on one hand the number of curses I have cast. I’ve done quite a few banishing/blessings. My favorite approach to ridding my world of negative people is to call the attention of the appropriate deity/deities to the offending person. After that the deity/deities will assert their will onto that person . An’ it harm none.
Witches do not fear death and for some whose time of passing has arrived, death is a celebration. And there have been some truly evil people who maybe should have been assassinated. But to celebrate the assassination of someone who simply had different ideas, I find that harmful. An’ it harm none.
