Here’s something that has bugged me for a while. In our modern world we have totally forgotten that we’re supposed to honor our Elders. Young people have always dissed their elders. That has always been the case. And they’ve always been admonished to respect their elders (5th Commandment, Honor thy father and thy mother, Exodus 20:2-17). Until current times youth learned that their elders had a wisdom about life and they began to learn from and respect those elders. Things have changed. Now it’s trendy to use social media to lambast the older folk. It’s despicable. It’s especially horrific when the disrespect comes from people who claim to be witches.
The third manifestation of the Triple Goddess is the Crone. The Triple God is the Sage. Y’all do realize that the Crone and the Sage are OLD, right? Their wisdom comes from experience, from living life. And those deities are manifestations of elderly humans and the wisdom they have acquired. The old witch in the woods has always been the keeper of knowledge. Guess what, they still are. Not every old person is wise, but many are true crones and sages. If you’re following the Wiccan path and not honoring your elders, you need to correct yourself and your relationship with the crone and sage manifestations.
I’m not sure why this level of disrespect started, especially in the pagan cultures, but people the Crone and the Sage are not amused.
